From Lakewood:

The crisp American Lager imagined by SMU Alum and LBC Founder Wim Bens is now on draft and will be on shelves in time for the season opener

DALLAS, TX  (July 2023) – Lakewood Brewing Co., lead by Southern Methodist University (SMU) alum Wim Bens, has made a beer exclusively for Mustang fans. PONY PILS is a 4.5% American Golden Lager designed for a fun tailgate and game-day experience – Bens even designed the can!

“I’ve been wanting to do a Pony beer for years, and I think that craft beer fans are ready to embrace the crispy bois (beer lingo for light and crisp craft lagers),” said Bens. “As a Mustang, I
can’t wait to be on the boulevard on game day with a Pony Pils in hand.”

Hitting limited draft in July and shelves this August in time for the first home game, PONY PILS will also support Lakewood’s first scholarship with $1 from every case going to the LBC Future Brewer STEM Scholarship, which has a goal to “Inspire the passions of the next generation of craft brewers.” Though it is being launched to kickoff football season, it will be available year-round.

Lakewood has also launched new packaging across its portfolio of beers, updating artwork and aligning the Lakewood Brewing aesthetic. With Bens’ inspiration, Lakewood has always been known for its eye-catching cans, which also feature the work of professional artists with selections like the Mechanical Series designed by Cory Say. The recent rebrand makes the year-round and seasonal mainstays current, clean, and consistent when they’re next to each other on the shelf.

Also available market-wide this month is Lakewood’s first Hop Snacks Variety Pack, a mix 12-pack of IPAs that includes three each of LAKEWOOD IPA, BIG D DOUBLE IPA, GODDESS HAZY IPA, and BLOOD ORANGE IPA. New this year, GODDESS has a tropical fruit-forward aroma complemented by a soft and smooth palate, and BLOOD ORANGE IPA is deliciously made with Texas grown blood oranges, creating a perfect balance between juicy, citrusy hops and tangy blood oranges.

“We want fans across Texas to be able to sample our IPA lineup even if they can’t make it to the taproom,” added Bens. “The new 12-pack makes it easy – put a case on ice and you’ll be the host with the most!”

The maker of the number one craft stout in Texas, Temptress, Lakewood rotates 24 craft beers on tap at its North Texas taproom, kitchen, and beergarden at 2302 Executive Drive in Garland, which attracts beer lovers from around the world for an amazing destination brewery experience. Available on shelves and taps Texas-wide, Lakewood’s award-winning beers can be found using Lakewood’s online Beer Finder.
