Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Elysian Chucky…A Killer Wit Beer

I’ve had some horrifying beers in my days, but today we’re sampling a beer that is both horrifying and delicious as well. Coming to us from our friends at Elysian Brewing in Seattle, WA, I’m sampling a new TV-collaboration and an exciting new pumpkin release.

The beer will be called Chucky, and I knew when I brought you a peek at the label, that there was something special on the horizon from Elysian. The beer is simply called a “Killer Wit” and it will be seasonal pumpkin beer brewed in partnership with USA Network and SYFY ahead of the 2nd season of the TV series CHUCKY (full details here).

The beer itself is a pumpkin witbier with “blood-red” cranberry juice, chamomile and cinnamon, and as a bonus, I was able to sit in (at the beach) on another great Elysian tasting Zoom conference. The call was hosted by Elysian founders Joe Bisacca and Dave Buhler and cellarmaster Dan-o, and of course we walked our way not only through the sampling of Chucky, but also their classics Night Owl pumpkin ale and Mr. Yuk sour pumpkin ale. Joe, Dave & Dan as well as everyone at Elysian are wonderful hosts, and it would be an understatement to say that it is a blast sampling with them. Of course the beers are wonderful, but I can’t tell you how much I enjoy the amazing stories about the founding of Elysian and the genesis of many of their pumpkin offerings. I can only imagine how much fun it would be to sample in person with these guys. It was also a really treat to have Chucky himself hack into the call and tell us all what he really thinks of us Winking smile

Since I sampled Night Owl a few times already (here) as well as Mr. Yuk, today we’ll focus on the new beer (and child-like doll killer) Chucky….so off we go.  zzubreebym

Elysian Brewing Chucky A Killer Wit Beer

ABV:  5.3%
Style:  Wit Beer
Packaging:  16oz cans
Appearance:  Bright straw golden
Aroma:   Grains, spices and yeast
Mouthfeel:   Light
Taste:   Ester-y yeast, wheat, cinnamon, spices and tart berries.
Overall:  Chucky is a hard beer to describe but an easy beer to drink. There are flavors of cinnamon and spices as well as what I perceived to be the pumpkin added to the mix. Chucky is light bodied and easy drinking and the combination of a traditional wit bier with pumpkin, cranberry and spices makes for a really enjoyable drinking experience. Overall I think the mix of flavors really works well and the beer achieves a really enjoyable and complex balance that I think you will love.

I would be remiss if I didn’t extend a big thank you to Elysian Brewing for sharing the cool beers and media beer-kit with me. Elysian Brewing Chucky will be a limited release beer that hits the shelves just in time for the Halloween season (available in select bars and retailers across the country--Check the Beer Finder on www.elysianbrewing.com to locate the beer nearest you)….so get out there and try it for yourself. And when you do try it, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
