Half Moon Bay Brewing Adding Trump & Clinton IPA Labels

From Half Moon Bay:

In an attempt to unify the two major U.S. political parties, the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, long known for its passion for politics, craft beer and sustainable coastal cuisine, has unveiled commemorative bottles of its popular IPA in honor of newly minted Republican party member and nominee Donald Trump and longtime Democratic nominee-in-waiting Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential election. The red-labeled Trump IPA, featuring the businessman, former reality show host and University co-founder, will go head-to-head with the blue Clinton IPA, starring the former U.S. Senator, Secretary of State and “private emailer” in the Brewing Company’s third “Presidential Alection,” inviting visitors to put their internal divisions aside and come together and vote with their politics and palate for the good of the country.

The Alection IPAs are available individually on-site ($5/22 oz. bottle*) and at the Brewing Company’s first outpost, Pacific Standard by Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, a taproom and bottle shop in Berkeley opening this fall, as well as in select Bay Area retailers beginning August 15. Continuing the political pun, visitors to the Brewing Company have the added option of creating their very own “SuperPACK” of two Alection IPAs for $12*. The SuperPACK also includes a set of two collectable Alection coasters and a ballot. It does not contain inspirational speech transcripts of former first ladies, third-party ballots or revealing WikiLeaks files, just delicious beer.

“There has not been a more important and divisive election in decades than Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton, so we are excited to announce Alection 2016,” said Brewing Company co-founder and owner, Lenny Mendonca. “Every vote counts, so we encourage everyone to cast their beer vote early and often for their candidate; it could make all the difference. As an added bonus, we’ll donate $1 to Common Cause’s non-partisan voter protection fund for every bottle sold to ensure the real election is as serious and fair as our Alection is fun and awesome.”

Leading up to Election Day on November 8, guests at the Brewing Company are invited to “cast their vote” for whom they believe should or will win the nation’s presidential election by simply ordering the Alection beer of their choice and completing a ballot. While many will swear they can tell the difference between the two political brews, both the Clinton and Trump bottles contain the Brewing Company’s popular IPA. The West Coast IPA is bursting with aromas of grapefruit and resinous pine, enhanced by a strong malt backbone. ABV 6.1% and 80 IBUs.

In the 2008 and 2012 Alections, the Brewing Company’s Obama Ale beat the McCain and Romney Ales, respectively, and ultimately predicted the eventual real-life victor. Results for 2016 will be posted on Election Day on www.hmbbrewingco.com and www.pacificstandardtaproom.com.
