Anheuser-Busch to take over Goose Island Beer for $38.8 Million

imageJust a quick update…The Chicago Tribune is confirming that Anheuser-Busch will be paying $38.8 Million for the Chicago based Fulton St Brewery LLC aka Goose Island Brewery.  This buy represents a 58% stake in Goose Island, the remaining stock is owned by the Craft Brewers Alliance (Widmer, Redhook, Kona), which Anheuser-Busch already owns a 32% stake, however the craft brewers alliance has agreed to sell their it’s portion of Goose Island as well.

Brew master Greg Hall will be stepping down. Founder and president John Hall will stay on as CEO 

and the two brew pubs are not part of the deal.  HERE’s the official announcement from Goose Island.  Goose Island also announced that Brett Porter (formerly of Deschutes Brewery) will replace Greg Hall as the Brewmaster @ Goose Island.
