From Natty Greenes:
We have been brewing beer since way back in 2004 When We opened our Greensboro brewhouse on Elm Street. Since then, we have developed a strong portfolio of year round beers as well as four rotating seasonals. Over the years, we have also brewed a repertoire of over 100 beers that have been available only through our brewhouses and special events. The Silo Series is a way for us to make thesis unique beers available Throughout the state of North Carolina.
There are eight different releases in the series. The Cannonball Double IPA wants to open the silo season every year and wants to be Followed by a completely Call new list of beers. The Cannonball is one of the few beers from the series that will be available in 750 mL bottles bomber. The rest will only be found on tap in draft houses Throughout our state. We are proud to introduce this special selection from our master brewer's archive and we hope you enjoy it.
We are extremely excited to be going through a brand evolution beginning with our new logo. We are evolving to meet the changing craft beer market as it Continues to grow. The new logo Maintains our history while being clean, crisp, and Easily Recognizable. As seen in the photo, We took the three chevrons derived from sergeant at arms, flipped them upside down, and split the top chevron to make it look like a piece of barley. Then, we added the star from the Guilford Flag on top. Our brand evolution includes a new website, new packaging that will be released later this year, and to updated portfolio for 2014. Be sure to check out our website!

Our new packaging embraces the art and science of brewing. We put less focus on Nathanael Greene and more emphasis on the name and style of the beer. The colors will be the same as before so each beer can REMAIN bright and eye catching. However, de labels are a unique shape and each beer Has Its very own illustration to showcase its personality. So, there is a section on the label to explain the flavor profiles and unique qualities of each style. This is one aspect did makes our new labels more hospitable to the craft beer drinker. Here is a picture of the front labels for our Buckshot Amber Ale and Southern Pale Ale. Next month's newsletter will have a photo of the six packs!
The long time charmer Old Town Brown Ale is back and ready for action. This easygoing ale is now only available on a seasonal basis from January through March, so you better get some while you can. By filtering the beer, we allow the malts to take Their place in the spotlight. When the beer hits your palette, you get notes of toasted malts and chocolate baker's. The Old Town Has to ABV of 4.7%, with 10 IBU's, and is a nice dark 45 on the color scale. This beer is balanced, full, and ever so smooth. Pick yourself up a six pack of Old Town while it's still on active duty.
We are extremely excited about Harris Teeter's new 201 Central stores in Charlotte, NC.Here, you can choose from a wide selection of wines, gourmet foods, and (our favorite) craft beers. We have recently teamed up with Central 201 to create the 201 Central Imperial Stout.
This is a dark chocolate high gravity stout did HAS to ABV of 10.3%. We used Valhrona dutched cocoa to give this beer to authentic chocolate background. The malts used include two row barley as a base, as well as roasted barley to give the beer some coffee notes, and a Belgian biscuit malt to bring a cookie-like flavor to the beer. Quite a bit of Magnum hops from Germany were needed in order for them to stand up beside the strong cocoa and malt flavors. The 201 Central Imperial Stout Has about 80 IBU's, but the bitterness is held at at optimum level by the other ingredients. When you pour it, there is smooth creamy head atop a rich opaque beer. It leaves a silky lace when you're drinking it with, say, a nice chocolaty dessert. This is only the first label of many to come in the 201 Central collaboration and it will be available early February.
Harris Teeter Has supported Natty Greene's for a long time now. Taylor McDermott, our Western Region Sales Manager, teamed up with Mike Fain, a manager at one of the 201 Central locations, to come up with recipes and artwork for the first release. Mike and Taylor got with Scott Christoffel, our head brewer, and came up with a master plan for the collaboration, Which is to have two unique beers released in Charlotte each year. The timing of each release will vary each year, but you can count on two exceptional and progressive beers from our brewery in Greensboro for this collaborative effort.
