Mexican beer brand gives solar-powered umbrellas and donation to Accion Opportunity Fund to support street food vendors across Los Angeles, CA to shine light on them, their food, culture and community.
CHICAGO, IL (August 27, 2024) - Sol, the Mexican lager inspired by the sun, is shining light on street food vendors with the launch of SOLar Umbrellas, first-of-its-kind solar-powered umbrellas designed to illuminate Latino street vendors’ carts and create a better sense of safety.
Street food vendors across the country are hardworking small-business owners who are proud to serve their communities–oftentimes with authentic food influenced by their culture and heritage. Yet safety has become a concern as they sell into the evening hours. Sol’s SOLar Umbrellas provide UV protection during the day and ample lighting throughout the night, to provide vendors an easy-to-mount and portable option that helps keep them safe.

In addition to donating SOLar Umbrellas to local Latino street food vendors across the L.A. metro area, Sol is donating to Accion Opportunity Fund, a non-profit that provides financial support and loans for Latino-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. A portion of donations will go towards helping Latino-owned street food vendors with challenges they face on a daily basis.
