Earth Day | Firestone Walker Brewing Company Remains Committed to Sustainable Brewing and Renewable Practices

From Firestone Walker:

With Earth Day approaching, I wanted to share how Firestone Walker Brewing Company remains steadfast in sustainable and environmentally responsible brewing practices.

Rooted in California’s Central Coast, company leaders David Walker and Adam Firestone have continued to make strides toward the most sustainable and ethical ways possible when creating their craft beers, with their “Brewing for Tomorrow” film here featuring insights into their holistic approach to sustainability.

For 2024, Firestone Walker’s sustainability pillars include:

  • Clean Air and Blue Skies: Their solar array offsets 1,210 metric tons of carbon emissions annually and recaptures 4.4 million pounds of CO2 yearly.
  • Brewed with Sunshine: By 2025, their solar arrays will power 60% of the brewery, generating 5 million kWh annually.
  • Making Every Drop Count: They save 7.5 million gallons annually through local reservoir sourcing and recycle 500,000 gallons using a custom water reuse system.
  • Reducing Waste: Over 90% of brewing gains are delivered in bulk, reducing packaging waste, and 20 million pounds of spent grains are repurposed for livestock feed.
