London, UK (October 4th, 2023): The team behind the world-renowned Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace and the London Concours is expanding its portfolio with the addition of the new Concours of Elegance Germany, presented by the German watch manufacturer A. Lange & Söhne. The event is supported by its auction partner, RM Sotheby’s, media partner, Classic Driver and hospitality partner, Käfer.

Taking place from 22-27 July 2024, the six-day event (four tour days and two concours days) culminates in a 200-car concours hosted at Gut Kaltenbrunn at the head of Lake Tegernsee; a destination renowned for its beauty, five-star hotels and world-class dining. Nestled in the Bavarian Alps, Tegernsee is a jewel of pristine beauty. Its crystal-clear waters mirror majestic mountain peaks, creating breath-taking panoramas. A blend of tranquillity and Bavarian charm, it offers visitors a serene escape, especially among the walls of Gut Kaltenbrunn, a majestic estate that has witnessed centuries of Bavarian history. Today, it, offers guests unparalleled lake views, gourmet cuisine, and genuine Bavarian hospitality.

Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of A. Lange & Söhne, said: “A. Lange & Söhne has a strong connection with Concours events in Europe and the US. After five years of successful partnership with the Concours of Elegance Hampton Court Palace it is our great honour to extend our commitment by partnering with the newly established Concours of Elegance Germany. The exclusive event provides a wonderful opportunity to welcome the international car community to our home country. At the same time we are looking forward to giving all guests fascinating insights into our world of watchmaking. Once again the parallels of design and craftsmanship between classic cars and our mechanical timepieces create a strong foundation for our partnership.”

Marcus Görig, Car Specialist, Germany, RM Sotheby’s, added: “RM Sotheby’s is delighted to be the official auction partner of the Concours of Elegance Germany. The Concours of Elegance in the UK has established itself as one of the pre-eminent Concours events in Europe, and the addition of a new event in Germany presents a wonderful opportunity for

RM Sotheby’s to further establish its reputation in this hugely important market. We look forward to what we know will be a spectacular showcase of wonderful motor cars.”

Before the cars take up their places in Gut Kaltenbrunn, they will embark on a tour of the Bavarian countryside. The four-day tour will explore the best of Bavarian food, drink and tradition, as well as the splendor of its natural surroundings. Having arrived at Gut Kaltenbrunn, the first day of the event will be highly exclusive, with just 1,200 guests by invitation only. The second day of the show welcomes more cars and more visitors for the public day.

James Brooks-Ward, Thorough Events CEO, said: “Germany has a renowned pedigree of exceptional automotive excellence. Germany deserves a first class international Concours. With the support of A. Lange & Söhne as our Presenting Partner, alongside the generosity of RM Sotheby’s, Classic Driver and Käfer, we’re excited to be bringing a truly world-class collector car event to Germany. We already have the foundations of a spectacular new addition to the global motoring calendar, and with the enthusiasm of our entire community of automotive collectors, we will translate all the magic of our other events into the Concours of Elegance Germany, with a crucial Bavarian twist.”

About the annual Concours of Elegance:

Established in 2012, the inaugural Concours of Elegance was held within Windsor Castle to mark the diamond jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen’s reign. Organised by Thorough Events, the first Concours of Elegance set a new global benchmark for a classic car concours, winning prestigious awards in the process – unheard of for a ‘start-up’ event in its first year. The second Concours of Elegance was held in 2013 to equal fanfare at the historic Royal Palace of St James in London, with the widely acclaimed third concours set in the stunning grounds of Hampton Court Palace in September 2014, before heading to the Palace of Holyroodhouse in 2015. Only cars of the highest calibre are invited to the Concours of Elegance, from all over the world, painstakingly selected by the Concours Steering Committee; a respected team of authoritative historic car experts. A key objective of the annual Concours of Elegance is to raise significant sums for charity.

Historic Royal Palaces:

Hampton Court Palace is cared for by Historic Royal Palaces, the independent charity that also looks after the Tower of London, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle in Northern Ireland. It helps everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built. It raises all its own funds and depends on the support of its visitors, members, donors, sponsors and volunteers. With the exception of Hillsborough Castle, these palaces are owned by The King on behalf of the nation, and Historic Royal Palaces manages them for the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. Registered charity number 1068852. For more information, visit www.hrp.org.uk.
