From Narragansett:
Iconic Craft Brewer Continues Steady Momentum Into Q3
PROVIDENCE, RI (September 21, 2023) – It’s full steam ahead for Narragansett Beer as the iconic New England brewer builds upon growth and success from early 2023 throughout the summer and fall months. Maintaining significant growth resulting from fan–favorite products like the celebrated original Lager, Narragansett continues its focus on meeting steady consumer demand for premium craft styles made with heritage and tradition in mind across new and existing markets, along with exciting brand milestones and developments in New England and beyond.
Over the past several months, growth was achieved across a wide geography from Maine to Florida to Colorado, where Narragansett was excited to participate again in the GABF as one of the original breweries. Narragansett’s flagship Lager saw accelerated growth over the period to +10%, led by core markets of RI, MA, CT, and NY. The company also successfully re-launched its Atlantic Light Lager and achieved +30% growth.
Additionally, Narragansett is thrilled to announce that it is bringing a taste of Rhode Island to Michigan, starting now with its award–winning Lager and following in the Spring with its Del’s Lemon Shandy. After opening a handful of new states over the last five years, Narragansett will begin accelerating expansion of its U.S. footprint in 2024. Locally, Narragansett will be bringing familiar flavor to T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island with a new ‘Gansett–branded bar and kitchen, slated to open in Q2 of 2024.
"It feels great to be a part of the gateway to Rhode Island for millions of people, and the growth we’ve experienced these past few months is testament to that," said Mark Hellendrung, President of Narragansett Beer. “From flagship Lager growth balanced between on and off premise to expanding into new markets to celebrating at our brewery, this summer has been a defining moment for ‘Gansett. As we continue to grow, experiment with new beer styles, and expand our offerings, we’re proud to continue to reflect our brand’s heritage and bring great beer to neighbors near and far. We can’t wait to see what the rest of 2023 holds!”
Adding to its many developments, Narragansett Beer experienced a busy summer at its waterfront brewery and taproom due in part to a series of festive programming and collaborations. In July, a week–long pop–up with legendary Brooklyn–based pizzeria Roberta’s offered guests the ultimate backdrop for beer and pizza lovers to unite while soaking up views of Narragansett Bay. The Fresh Catch Summer Series returned to the brewery with delectable seafood pairings for the fan–favorite Fresh Catch Citra Blonde Ale via collaborations with local institutions Dune Brothers, Matunuck Oyster Bar, Walrus and Carpenter, and the Rhode Island Seafood Festival, illustrating the brewery as a must–stop destination.
While remaining passionate about beer through new craft innovations, Narragansett will continue to uphold traditional fan–favorites, and is eager to see continued growth through the fall and remainder of 2023.
