Alesong Raspberry Parliament Wins Bronze Medal at GABF / WIne

Alesong was awarded a bronze medal at the 2023 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) competition. This year marks the eighth year in a row Alesong has received a medal at GABF, coinciding with each year we have released beer since our establishment in 2015. The eight-year medal streak is now the 4th longest such active streak in the United States!! Alesong was one of only thirteen Oregon breweries to take home an award during this year’s ceremony and one of three Eugene breweries to bring home a medal, joining friends from Ninkasi and Falling Sky in representing our city.

We were recognized in the Belgian Fruit Beer style category for Raspberry Parliament, a tart, Flanders-red-inspired beer aged in French oak barrels with raspberries and then lightly sweetened before packaging with local honey. Released in November of last year, Raspberry Parliament is a perfect example of the creative approach we take to brewing, incorporating ingredients of the highest quality and unconventional processes, to craft beverages unlike any other brewery in the area.  As is the case for all Alesong’s beers, Raspberry Parliament was a limited release, barrel-aged blend that once sold out, is gone forever.  We have pulled the last handful of bottles out of the cellar for consumption on-site at our tasting rooms in the 5th Street Public Market and at the country brewery until sold out.

“It’s an honor to be recognized once again on a national scale,” says Brian Coombs, Alesong co-founder and Director of Brewing Operations. “It’s no easy feat to compete alongside so many talented individuals year after year and continue to win medals. This competition in particular means a lot to us because most of the judges are professional brewers and it feels good that our peers in the beer industry respect and appreciate the work we do.”

Team Alesong

That’s right! Your favorite brewery is now a winery as well! After seven years of crafting award-winning barrel-aged beers, we are launching a wine program.  Our first release is an effervescent and refreshing, oak-aged, Pinot Gris and there’s more to come.

Sourcing incredible fruit from the Dundee Hills AVA, and aging the wine in French<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = "[default] http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" NS = "http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" /> oak barrels, we are maintaining our artisan approach and high standards of quality and complexity with this new offering. The finished wine is dry and lightly acidic with a beautiful fruit character, mild oak flavor, and spritzy carbonation, making it exceedingly food friendly.

We are officially releasing our Pinot Gris at 5pm next Friday, 9/29 at Alesong on 5th with an introduction by Brian at that time. And on Saturday, September 30 at our country tasting room, we will debut the new wine alongside our full menu of seasonal kitchen offerings and award-winning, barrel-aged beers. Founders and production team will be on site at both events to answer questions and present the new wine.
