Alesong Wins 2 Medals at the 2023 Oregon Beer Awards

Alesong Brewing & Blending won two medals at last night’s 2023 Oregon Beer Awards (OBA) ceremony, one of only a handful of breweries to earn more than one. The Oregon Beer Awards recognizes the most outstanding beers and breweries in Oregon, with professional judges sorting through a double-blind competition of nearly 1,200 entries from 126 breweries across the state to award medals in 30 categories.  zzubreebym

Alesong took home a gold for Raspberry Parliament in the “fruited mixed culture beers” category and a bronze for Señor Rhino in the “barrel-aged stout” category, showing their expertise across the spectrum of barrel-aged beer styles. Raspberry Parliament is aged in wine barrels and second use bourbon barrels and is one of the most complex beers Alesong makes. Loosely inspired by a Belgian Flanders red, this mildly tart beer was refermented on whole-biodynamically-grown raspberries from right next door to Alesong at King Estate and conditioned with local honey. Señor Rhino takes Alesong’s decadent imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels, Rhino Suit, and leans into the Mexican hot chocolate inspiration by adding cinnamon, vanilla, and ancho chiles for a true dessert-in-a-glass experience.

Raspberry Parliament and Señor Rhino are currently available on draft for tasting at Alesong on 5th within the Fifth Street Public Market (1-8pm Sunday-Wednesday, 1-9pm Thursday-Saturday) and at Alesong’s Countryside Brewery (12-6pm Thursday-Sunday).

“We’re biased of course, but we believe the Oregon beer community is producing the best beer in the country and we’re honored to be recognized again this year by our peers for all the hard work and passion we put into our craft” said Brian Coombs, Alesong cofounder.  “And it’s great to see such a strong showing from the Eugene brewery community! Portland gets all the attention, but Eugene makes some great beer as well!”
