From Ground Breaker:

Ground Breaker Brewing, the Portland, Oregon based dedicated gluten-free craft brewery, has launched a new year round beer in the low-calorie segment. 99 Light Lager clocks in at just 92 calories per 12 ounce serving. It is the brewery’s first beer to be released in six-packs.

“We’re excited to release this crushable, shotgunable, lawnmower*, hillbilly, dad beer,” said Founder James Neumeister. “This has been the most requested beer style in the history of our brewery. We put a lot of R&D effort into this beer because we knew how important it was to us and our fans to get it right.”

Ground Breaker labored for two years to dial in a recipe featuring malts from Eckert Malting & Brewing and Grouse Malt House. The brewers decided to use American-grown Crystal hops to ensure it would be recognized as an American-style light lager. “With so many new, exciting and novel hop varieties on the market it’s easy for a hop like Crystal to be overlooked,” explained Head Brewer Tyler Kueber. “It’s a hop we like a lot and a hop that contributes a gentle bitterness while still adding classic hop aromas.  We think it works very well with this smooth, crispy lager.”

99 Light is available at the Ground Breaker tasting room located at 2030 SE 7th Ave. Portland, Oregon. It has so far been distributed in Oregon, California, Colorado, Washington, Idaho, New York and New Jersey. Ground Breaker expects the beer to be available in more states soon. “It will be hitting Vermont soon, and hopefully in Michigan within the month,” remarked Jesse Bufton, Operations Manager at the brewery. “It’s a year round beer so we are working with our distribution partners to ensure availability in every Ground Breaker distributed territory.”
*Ground Breaker strongly discourages the use of machinery, including lawnmowers, after enjoying 99 Light.
