Anheuser-Busch Kicks Off Its Fifth Annual Brew Across America Congressional Brewing Competition in St. Louis

From Anheuser-Busch:

The annual competition starts in Anheuser-Busch’s hometown of St. Louis and will make its way across California, Colorado, New Hampshire, Missouri, and Virginia before culminating in the nation’s capital

ST. LOUIS, MO – June 30, 2022 – Today, Anheuser-Busch is kicking off its fifth annual Brew Across America Congressional Brewing Competition in its hometown of St. Louis, where Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA), Republican Leader of the House Agriculture Committee, will partner with a bipartisan buddy to brew a unique beer inspired by local ingredients. The competition emphasizes Anheuser-Busch’s commitment to creating a future with more cheers by bringing elected officials from across the aisle together to find common ground over beer. zzubreebym

“Our annual Congressional brewing competition, which brings together Members of Congress from across the aisle to collaborate on a bipartisan brew, is part of our company’s broader efforts to help policymakers find common ground and to work together to strengthen our communities and our country,” said César Vargas, Chief External Affairs Officer for Anheuser-Busch. “Our company purpose is to create a future with more cheers and that’s why we sponsor Brew Across America and other programs aimed at encouraging bipartisan cooperation, more participation in the political process, and fostering constructive dialogue and debate.”

Anheuser-Busch’s Brew Across America Congressional Brewing Competition first launched in 2017 as part of its broader Brew Democracy initiative to promote democracy by increasing opportunities for those from differing political backgrounds to come together over a beer, collaborate, and compete for the Brew Democracy Cup.

The requirement that members of Congress work with a bipartisan buddy of their choosing started during last year’s competition as a way to reinforce Anheuser-Busch’s aim to bring people together to move the country forward.

Last year, 10 members of Congress, including five Democrats and five Republicans, from seven different states participated in the program at five Anheuser-Busch breweries across the country. This summer, six bipartisan buddy teams will enter the competition, brewing beers at Anheuser-Busch’s facilities across California, Colorado, New Hampshire, Missouri, and Virginia.

Following the summer brew days, the members’ bipartisan beers will compete for the Brew Democracy Cup at the Anheuser-Busch Brew Across America Congressional Brewing Competition in Washington, D.C. this fall. Their unique brews will be judged by a panel of media and beer industry experts, who will rank each beer and choose the winning brew. The winning bipartisan buddy pair will share in the victory and accept the Brew Democracy Cup.
