Penderyn’s medalists: Celt (Double Gold), Rich Oak (Double Gold), Portwood (Gold), Myth (Gold), and Madeira (Gold)
Brecon Beacons, Wales – May 3, 2022: Penderyn Distillery continues to establish itself as one of the world’s best single malt whisky producers by securing an impressive five Double Gold and Gold medals at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Awards. The recently announced awards spotlight Penderyn’s Celt and Rich Oak expressions with Double Gold designations, and Myth, Madeira, and Portwood with Gold medals.
The awards are the latest in a collection of more than 90 Gold and Masters accolades for the Welsh whisky brand that is in the midst of a strategic expansion in the destination, as well as leading the way for Welsh whisky to gain a formal Designation of Origin classification under the leadership of Penderyn’s CEO, Stephen Davies. “We are overjoyed to have won these awards for five of our core Gold and Dragon ranges. We’d like to congratulate our US importers, ImpEx Beverages, for their hard work representing Penderyn. They have done a wonderful job, and these awards will only reinforce our sales in the US, as well as the rest of the world,” said Davies.
The San Francisco World Spirits Awards is the oldest and largest competition of its kind in North America and spotlights the very best in all internationally recognized styles of whisky from around the globe. A total of 70 judges from all over the world evaluated approximately 5,000 spirits over two weeks in April 2022.
