10 Barrel’s Greyhound takes a gold medal, while the Bloody Mary, Classic Margarita,Lemongrass Lime Vodka Soda and Moscow Mule all take silver.
BEND, OR (TKTK, 2021) – Bend-based 10 Barrel Brewing is proud to announce five awards from the American Distilling Institute as part of their Craft Spirits Conference, held in Louisville, Kentucky this week. 10 Barrel’s Greyhound took ADI’s gold medal, while the Bloody Mary, Classic Margarita, Lemongrass Lime Vodka Soda, and the Moscow Mule took silver medals.
Spirits entered in judged categories were evaluated by an expert panel of spirit judges, as part of blind flights. As part of the process, judges were only given enough information to
evaluate the spirit without identifying the producer or it’s specific name. Individual judges made a medal or no medal recommendation with a numeric score. The panel’s anchor
judge tallied the scores and facilitated a discussion to determine what medal, if any, the cocktail earned through the blind evaluation. The panel used the numerical average tallied
during the tasting as the starting point in their medal conversation. Besides the numerical evaluation, judges were allowed remarks.
Some of the remarks associated to 10 Barrel’s gold medal winning Greyhound, included:
“Tastes like a Greyhound, hits the mark” - Judge No. 63, score 88
“Beauty. Nicely not sweet. Very true to label.” - Judge No. 33, score 90
10 Barrel Brewing’s canned cocktails earned the following awards at ADI’s 2021 Judging of Craft Spirits:
● Gold Medal – Certified Craft Blended Spirit: Greyhound
● Silver Medal – Certified Craft Blended Spirit: Bloody Mary
● Silver Medal – Certified Craft Blended Spirit: Classic Margarita
● Silver Medal – Certified Craft Blended Spirit: Lemongrass Lime Vodka Soda
● Silver Medal – Certified Craft Blended Spirit: Moscow Mule
Awards were distributed at the ADI Conference in Louisville, KY this week, on August 24-
25, 2021.
