Brewery Finance and Craft Beer Professionals Launch Tap the Vote Effort in Colorado

To make it easy for Colorado breweries to inspire their customers to register and vote in the November 3 elections, Brewery Finance and Craft Beer Professionals have launched Tap the Vote.

“If there are two things Coloradoans ought to be able to agree on,” says Rick Wehner, founder of Denver-based Brewery Finance, “it’s the beauty of craft beer and the importance of voting. With Tap the Vote, we’re giving Colorado craft brewers an easy way to help their customers register to vote, receive a mail-in ballot, and learn all they need in order to participate in the upcoming election.”

Brewery participation in this nonpartisan, Colorado-focused effort is easy. Breweries simply share the Tap the Vote icon on their social media pages and steer beer lovers to www.GoVoteColorado.gov , the one-stop source for voter registration and voting info from the Colorado Secretary of State.

"Craft beer,” says Craft Beer Professionals founder Andrew Coplon, “is about fostering a positive community and providing everyone a voice. A presidential election is about letting your voice be heard. Whether you like light beers or dark beers or sway Democrat or Republican, it is your responsibility to cast your ballot for what you believe in.”

For breweries that want to promote the program through their tap rooms, Colorado-based Sticker Giant has been providing free Tap the Vote stickers for use on to-go beers and other items.

At www.GoVoteColorado.gov, interested voters can register to vote online, request a mail-in ballot (ideally no later than October 26) and find out where their local polling places are located. The site has details on other voter-related topics as well.

In the 2016 elections, only about 60% of registered voters in the USA voted. “That’s terribly low participation for something as important as voting in a democracy,” Wehner says. “We want 100% of Colorado’s craft beer fans to vote this year.”
