If you’re familiar with our brewery, then you’re likely familiar with Surly Gives A Damn. Our charitable arm, SGAD focuses on giving back to the communities that built us, both in time and money. Stocking food shelves, planting trees, cleaning up parks, Toys for Tots drives, building an entire damn house–the list goes on and on.
“Our volunteers amaze me every damn day,” says SGAD Executive Director Mary Sellke. “They show up when it’s 97 to clean up a park and they show up on holidays to deliver meals. They make a difference in their community.”
How much of a difference? As it happens, we tracked how many damns Surly gave in 2019. Those numbers are below. (Not included are the Surly beers we bought for our volunteers at the end of the day, but rest assured that every one of them was well-earned.)
