Job-seekers in the Greater Boston Area are invited to network and learn more from the local brewing community at Oct. 8 event
$1 of every pint sold of limited-edition Hopportunity Pale Ale will go back to non-profit Career Collaborative
BOSTON, MA Sept. 18, 2019 – In an effort to encourage more diversity in the craft beer community, Mass. Bay Brewing Company’s Harpoon Brewery is proud to announce the Hop Forward Career Fair on October 8—a first at the brewery, and first of its kind for the industry. The event is hosted by the proud employee-owners of Harpoon Brewery, in partnership with the Brewers Association, Career Collaborative, the City of Boston Diversity Office, and the Massachusetts Brewers Guild. The event invites participants to grow their career in the craft beer industry, by providing an opportunity for diverse and bilingual candidates to network with local breweries throughout the Greater Boston Area. All nine breweries that will be at the event are focused on creating work environments that value and promote workforce diversity.
“We know that diverse talent is what keeps a company moving forward, but we also know that as an industry, we could do more to ensure that the people working within our four walls represent the communities we serve,” said Dan Kenary, CEO and co-founder of Mass. Bay Brewing Company & Harpoon Brewery. “That’s why hosting this career fair is such an important step for us. It’s about making connections and inviting people into the fold who may not have thought about a career in craft beer, but who can flourish here. By doing so, we hope to help others in the industry follow suit, so we can work toward greater diversity within our community, together.”
Mass. Bay Brewing Company is proud to be one of six breweries across the country to receive an inaugural grant from the Brewer’s Association for a Diversity and Inclusion focused event. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about, and apply for, careers in all aspects of the craft beer industry – brewing, production, marketing, sales, hospitality, and administration – straight from local breweries themselves. In addition to Harpoon Brewery, other participating local breweries in the Hop Forward Career Fair include Boston Beer Co., Night Shift, Trillium, Lord Hobo, Dorchester Brewing, Turtle Swamp, and Wormtown Brewery.
In addition to networking, attendees will also have a chance to taste a unique beer, Hopportunity Pale Ale, brewed specifically for the event by Harpoon Brewery in partnership with Career Collaborative. $1 of every pint sold will go back to Career Collaborative to help support their efforts in teaching unemployed and under-employed adults with low-income jobs how to build meaningful careers.
