From Cape May:

What: Cape May Brewing Company is proud to commence production on their latest brew: Maybe She’s Brewed with It, a fruited sour ale conceived, developed, and brewed by the talented women of Cape May Brewing Company to take part in the Pink Boots Society’s Collaboration Brew Day celebrating International Women’s Day.

Who: Carol Murphy, New Jersey Assemblywoman (D-7)
Vicki Clark, Cape May County Chamber of Commerce, President
Ryan Krill, co-founder and CEO, Cape May Brewing Company
Chris Henke, co-founder, Cape May Brewing Company
Bob Krill, co-founder, Cape May Brewing Company
Alicia Grasso, Marketing Director, Cape May Brew Co.
Brian Hink, Innovation Director, Cape May Brew Co.

What else: Attendees will have an opportunity to be part of the brewing process, coming into close contact with the ingredients. You’ll feel the grains, smell the hops, and see the yeast that goes into this exclusive new brew. In addition, you’ll be able to sample the products upon which CMBC has built their region-wide reputation for variety and excellence.

Following the brew day will be a luncheon at Lucky Bones Back Water Grille in Cape May, featuring guest speakers Assemblywoman Murphy and Vicki Clark.

Assemblywoman Murphy has made a name for herself as a champion for New Jersey’s breweries, having introduced three bills advocating for license reform and for promoting New Jersey’s breweries. A4791 and A4868 address the ability to sell food and snacks, keeping food menus, the ability to sell other non-alcoholic beverages, the number of events breweries may hold, preserving the right to self-distribution, and addresses the home delivery of beer. In addition, A2130 instructs the Division of Travel and Tourism to advertise and promote tours of breweries in the State.
Vicki Clark is the President and CEO of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce, a position she has held for the past 15 years. In a dual capacity, she serves as Executive Director of the Chamber’s Education Foundation which was established in 2014. She oversees the daily business operations, advocacy positions, and membership programs with a staff of 4 year-round and 2 seasonal employees.

Why: The Pink Boots Society -- a national organization of females in the beer industry -- created their Collaboration Brew Day from their members’ desire to take part in International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8th by raising the profile of women’s roles in the beer industry. Chapters and members of Pink Boots Society get together along with supporting breweries and individuals and brew their chosen beer style. Pink Boots Society splits proceeds from sales of this collaboration brew with participating chapters, applying the revenue to educational scholarships and programming for its members. Cape May Brewing Company is participating for the first time.
