Pelican Brewing Sun Flare Dry-Hopped Pale Ale Returns

Pelican Brewing Sun Flare Dry-Hoped Pale Ale ReturnsFrom Pelican:

Pelican brewers imagined the perfect beer to enjoy with their toes in the sand and warm breezes blowing—the result is a super bright, thirst-quenching, low ABV brew

Pacific City, OR (July 2, 2018)—Pelican Brewing Company welcomes the bright, fresh flavor of Sun Flare dry-hopped Pale Ale back to its summer lineup. Last year’s debut of the juicy, fruity seasonal beer was so popular, Pelican now re-releases the brew for the first time in 6-packs in addition to 22 oz. bottles and on-tap for a limited time.

According to Pelican’s founding brewmaster Darron Welch, Sun Flare is a great case study for Pelican brewing methodology. The brewing team likes to imagine the circumstances, the occasion, the feeling they want to evoke with the beer even before choosing the raw ingredients.

“Before we designed Sun Flare, we imagined sitting on the Pelican patio at Pacific City—our feet in the sand, sunlight dancing on the waves, and a warm breeze blowing as we enjoy the moment,” says Welch. “We then wrapped that vision into what we wanted from the color, flavor, aroma and all the sensory expression required to match that experience. The result—a summer day in a bottle!”

With a color as bright as a sunny coastal day, Sun Flare embodies the pleasure of a trip to the beach. A clean malty backbone lays the foundation for this refreshing beer, while letting the zippy, fruity flavors of Meridian, El Dorado and Santiam hops shine. Never mind the squinty eyes and glare on the lens, don the sunglasses and enjoy the bright freshness of the perfect day on the beach:

ABV: 5.1%   |   IBU: 45   |  PLATO: 11.5º

“Sun Flare pays homage to our beach roots,” says Welch. “It isn’t a beer that fits into a particular beer style category—rather it’s a product of us setting the scene and creating a beer to enjoy in that moment. Based on its popularity, fellow fanatics seem to agree!”

Welch continues to be one of the most decorated brewers in the Pacific Northwest, earning well over 450 medals including several Gold Medals this year alone at the World Beer Cup, Australian International Beer Awards and North American Beer Awards.

Like all Pelican beers, Sun Flare is born at the beach by a team of award-winning craft beer makers known for brewing styles of beer that they themselves love to drink. Cheers!
