(Burlington, July 10) Nickel Brook Brewing is proud to announce it won two awards in the U.S. Open Beer Championship. Out of 6,300 beers representing 117 different styles, from breweries around the world, Nickel Brook Brewing won bronze for two of its own: Kentucky Bastard and Peach Uber.
Kentucky Bastard won in the Wood/Barrel-Aged Strong Stout category. This imperial stout has rich chocolate, coffee and dark fruit flavors combined with a vanilla and oak warmth from being aged in bourbon barrels for a full year. This is the second medal Kentucky Bastard has won at the U.S. Open.
Peach Uber won in the Berliner-Style Weisse category. This sparkling sour wheat ale is brewed with fresh Peach puree, expressing a fresh summer peach aroma with an effervescent and tart finish. This is one of Nickel Brook's newest products to be released widely through the LCBO this summer.
“Winning awards for what we love doing is a good day,” says Matt Gibson, Manager Corporate Sales and Marketing, Nickel Brook Brewing Co. “Our team works hard to make innovative, artisanal beers and we're honoured to have them recognized against so many great competitors."
Announced on July 9, the U.S. Open Beer Championship, based in Ohio includes beers from around the world from professional breweries and award-winning home-brewers. Judges were from the United States, Canada and England.
Peach Uber is currently available at the Brewery, in LCBO stores in Ontario and at select retailers in the North-Eastern United States. Kentucky Bastard will be available this winter.
