Narragansett's New Brew Is A Fresh Catch

Narragansett's New Brew Is A Fresh CatchWe brought you a peek back in Dec, and now this update from Narragansett:

PAWTUCKET, RI  (March 21, 2018) – As an ode to fishermen and the bounty they bring to the table, Narragansett Beer is proud to release Fresh Catch, a new year-round addition to its growing portfolio of award-winning craft beers. Fresh Catch is a supremely refreshing blonde ale that embodies everything it means to be from a coastal town. It’s about heritage, the tradition and importance of the fishing industry, and the excitement on the faces of friends and family when the first lobster, crab, or grouper of the season hits the table.

For generations, fishermen up and down the coast have fought harsh seas and spent extended periods away from home, all in the name of catching the freshest and highest-quality seafood all year long. At Narragansett, we’ve always prided ourselves on brewing straightforward, quality beers for hardworking people who also have a taste for the finer things in life. Fresh Catch is our salute to these fishermen and those that know how to enjoy their haul.

“Seafood is woven into the fabric of every New Englander,” said Mark Hellendrung, president of Narragansett Beer. “It’s just such an integral part of our character. Since I was a kid I’ve watched friends or family members battle rough waters through every season in search for the ultimate payoff, and my parents can say the same. I think that has really helped make us hardworking, take nothing for granted people. I’m proud of that. The best part is that we’re not alone. Whether it’s lobsters from Maine, crabs from Maryland, or snapper from Florida, Coastal towns up and down the Atlantic share a common bond of work ethic, heritage, and great seafood. This beer is for everyone who is from a town like mine.”

Brewed with seafood pairing in mind, this blonde ale boasts aromas of citrus and passionfruit and is dry hopped with citra for a crisp grapefruit finish. At 4.2% ABV and 23 IBUs, this session ale is a beer-fridge mainstay all year round. Rolling out now, Fresh Catch will be available in six-packs of 16 ounce tallboys and 12-packs of 12 ounce cans for market price (which is typically $10.99 and $15.99 SRP, respectively). Fresh Catch will be distributed throughout the entire Narragansett footprint and the exact timing and availability of Fresh Catch will vary per market. More information about the beer can be found at narragansettbeer.com.

To release Fresh Catch we’ll be throwing an all out fishermen’s bash at the iconic Captain Seaweeds on Providence’s East Side. Captain Seaweeds is a Providence staple. They have been slinging ‘Gansett here in the capital for decades. We’ll be partying out on their back patio that’s decked out with all sorts of buried treasure.

Our friends at Dune Brothers Seafood will be packing up their insanely delicious clam shack and cooking up locally sourced seafood right on the patio. Come hungry or you’ll never forgive yourself.

Of course we’ll have plenty of Fresh Catch on tap as well. If you haven’t had it yet, Fresh Catch is our new year round brew and it’s a supremely refreshing golden ale that we’ve dry hopped with Citra hops for a clean aroma and finish of grapefruit and passionfruit. It’s brewed to pair with New England Seafood, and New England Seafood doesn’t get much better than Dune Brothers.

See you there.
