Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Samuel Adams New England IPAWe brought you an early peek at this beer back in Oct, and I knew then it would be a really interesting beer to sample.  Thankfully an early sample arrived at mybeerbuzz headquarters so off we go.

This is Samuel Adams New England IPA, and if you’re wondering why the word “style” is missing from the name, that’s simple.  Samuel Adams (and Boston, MA) are the definition of New England in the beer world, so this is no style…this is the real deal.  Samuel Adams is “paying homage to its roots” with this beer, and with the plethora of NE-style IPA’s from east-coast to west-coast already in the market, I couldn’t wait to see how it measures up.Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Samuel Adams New England IPA

This beer was developed on the Samuel Adams experimental nano-brewery and it has been previously available on draft only in New England….and in fact this beer was the most popular growler fill in 2017 from Samuel Adams.  The good news for you and all of us is that the beer will now go nationwide.

Samuel Adams New England IPA poured with the much anticipated hazy golden appearance and the aromas lead with grapefruit, citrus pineapple and tropical fruit, thanks in part to the Simcoe, Cascade, Citra, Mosaic and Galaxy hops in the mix.  We really enjoyed the juicy flavors and the prominent fresh pineapple flavors on our palate.  I really liked the balance of this beer and how the fruit-forward hops really steal the show.  New England IPA finishes clean, refreshing and a bit dry, but have no doubt…this is a juicy hazy NE-IPA through and through.

Our pal Jim Koch says this beer is brewed with “unusual and novel brewing practices” that took a year to develop and give the beer a “hazy, juicy and smooth character”…and we’d agree.  New England IPA will roll in at 6.8%-AbV and a well balanced 35 IBU and I really liked the 16oz can format for this beer.Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Samuel Adams New England IPA
