Catawba Brewing Releases Small Batch Maibock

Catawba Brewing Releases Small Batch MaibockFrom Catawba Brewing:

Catawba Brewing is now pouring a Small Batch Maibock (8.4 percent ABV). Brewed with Pilsner and Munich malts and German noble hops, this strong golden lager leads with flavor notes of biscuit and honey, balanced by a hint of spicy, herbal hop character.

In Germany, the Maibock (also known as “Heller Bock” – meaning “Pale Bock”) is traditionally released in May as a bridge of sorts to the beers of summer. Much like a high-gravity Pilsner, the style is a lighter-colored cousin to the strong malty lagers of German winters. Catawba’s Maibock is brewed on the high end of the ABV range for the style to fortify the beer for its non-traditional winter release.

Small Batch Maibock is Passport Beer #8 in Catawba’s 2018 Small Batch rewards program. Brewed in their Asheville South Slope brewhouse, the beer is available exclusively in Catawba’s four tasting rooms.
