From Adelbert’s:
Our new and improved Scratchin’ Hippo amber is a classic amber with a perfect balance of malty backbone with subtle hop bitterness to scratch the itch of even the tamest beer drinker.
You may recall Scratchin Hippo was originally brewed as a Biere de Garde, a historic and obscure style that even the most seasoned craft beer drinkers could easily look over. We realized that we were missing out on brewing a time-honored beer, an American Amber, that would allow us to highlight the characteristics of what people loved about the old Hippo, while pushing it further towards a more approachable and recognizable style. We kept the name because it’s a great story, plus hippos are pretty damn cool.
Scratchin’ Hippo pours deep amber releasing a bready aroma with hints of dark fruit. Rich roasted malt and hints of caramel balance elegantly with the clean citrus bitterness and earth tones from the hops. We recommend pairing it will BBQ, tangy cheeses, and banana bread pudding.
Join us on Friday, February 2nd when we will be releasing a limited run of these cans at our taproom. It will also be on tap for your enjoyment. Following the brewery release, we will do a small batch of cans (~50 cases) into the Austin market with wider keg availability.
