Ancestry Brewing Promotes New Head Brewer

Ancestry Brewing Promotes New Head BrewerFrom Ancestry Brewing:

PORTLAND, OR — (November 13, 2017) Ancestry Brewing Company proudly announces a new head brewer as they expand capacity and sign with Maletis Beverage Company.

Brian Engdahl, who joined the brewery back in May, assumed head brewing duties in September.

“Brian is a very driven guy who relentlessly pursues goals,” said Ancestry General Manager Jeremy Turner. “He has a great mix of drive, creativity, talent, and scientific background.”

A graduate of Oregon State University’s Fermentation Science Program, Engdahl worked as a shift brewer at Widmer for two years before moving to Ancestry. “I am extremely excited to help Ancestry continue to make great beer and to add to the wide array of beers we already produce,” he said. “Our brewery is set up so that we can constantly innovate, which I have always had a passion for.”

Engdahl, who prefers dark and balanced beers, hopes to expand Ancestry’s popular line of “pub culture” beers—low abv and low IBU but full character—while improving on the wide reputation for clean, late-hopped IPAs.

“One of my schools of thought, is that creativity and new product development are key in the Pacific Northwest craft beer scene,” Engdahl said. “With that in mind, I plan to continue the culture we have here at Ancestry, of continuous new product development. We all have creative minds here and I cannot wait to see what we can cook up together.”

Ancestry Brewing looks forward to Brian’s mass production expertise to help manage the newly-signed partnership with Maletis Beverage, who distributes Ancestry beer in
Portland-metro as well as some outside territories. The company is still self-distributed in Corvallis, Eugene and Bend.

Founded in 2016 by father-and-son team Jerry and Jeremy Turner, Ancestry Brewing is based in Tualatin, Ore., outside of Portland. The family-owned brewery brews well-balanced
ales and lagers with a focus on clean fermentation. Ancestry is distributed by Maletis Beverage in Portland-metro, and self-distributed to Eugene, Corvallis and Bend. Follow
