Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Samuel Adams Harvest Hefe & OctoberFest 2017

Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Samuel Adams Harvest Hefe & OctoberFest 2017When September rolls around each year, the fall beers start to hit the shelves.  We get our first peek at pumpkin beers and our favorite Okto-beers return, and before you know it, you’re hoisting a stein and celebrating fall.

This evening I’m excited to get my first taste of a returning fall favorite and a new fall beer destined to become a new classic.  Of course you can’t say the work “hoisting” without thinking of Samuel Adams, and you can’t mention Samuel Adams in Sept without thinking about their OctoberFest Märzen.  I sample this beer every year and I’m always struck by how good it is.  Samuel Adams OctoberFest pours a rich copper/red color with loads of roasted caramel and biscuit aromas.  With flavors of toffee, sweet malts and caramel, balanced by Bavarian Noble hops, it’s no surprise that this is one of Samuel Adams all time favorite seasonal releases.  Brewed with Tettnang Tettnanger and Hallertau Mittlefrueh Noble hops, this beer is well balanced with a slightly sweet caramel finish and late flavors that make you want to drink more (5.3%-AbV, 15 IBU).

If that’s not enough fun, Samuel Adams will be joining Sports Illustrated to name the Samuel Adams “Steinhoister Of The Year” so stay tuned for more details on that.  I also shouldn’t go any further without thanking Samuel Adams for including the cool Bavarian hat with my samples (see photo above).
Samuel Adams Harvest Hefe
Up next we sampled the newest addition to the Samuel Adams fall lineup:  Harvest Hefe.  This beer is a Hefeweizen with a “fall twist” and it is brewed with nutmeg, cinnamon and clove.  Harvest Hefe pours a rich golden color with spicy notes of cinnamon and clove in the aromas.  The flavors of a traditional Hefeweizen are there, but the flavors of cinnamon and clove will be what you notice first.  Slightly sweet with Hallertau Mittlefrueh and Spalt Spalter Noble hops to balance everything out, the beer is light bodied and very drinkable.  Harvest Hefe hits 5.4%-AbV and 14 IBU and we found it to be very drinkable and well balanced.

In addition to OctoberFest and Harvest Hefe, Samuel Adams will also be celebrating fall 2017 with the release of Black Lager, Maple Red, 20-Pounds of Pumpkin, Bohemian Pilsner, Dunkelweizen and another new fall beer; Honey Rye Ale.  These beers will be released in two combinations of Fall Variety Packs (bottles and cans) with different groupings in each.

So get out there and hoist your stein, and when you do, be sure to fill it with Samuel Adams OctoberFest or Harvest Hefe.  Available now in 12oz bottles (and 12oz cans for OctoberFest); be sure to try these new and returning fall beers from Samuel Adams.  And when you do, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
