Catawba Brewing Releases Breezy Brae Biere de Miel for Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy Fundraiser

Catawba Brewing Releases Breezy Brae Biere de Miel for Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy FundraiserFrom Catawba Brewing in Asheville, NC:

Catawba Brewing taps their Breezy Brae Biere de Miel (6.3 percent ABV) on Thursday, September 28. This Belgian-style Farmhouse Ale is brewed with honey malt and a Southern Appalachian raw honey varietal from Wild Mountain Bees in Weaverville, NC. The beer was fermented with a blend of Belgian Saison yeast and Brettanomyces, producing a complex flavor profile of fruity esters with a subtle earthy sweetness from the honey.

Breezy Brae is a collaboration beer with the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy (SAHC) as part of their “For Love of Beer & Mountains" fundraiser series. Catawba will donate $1 from each pint sold in Asheville tasting rooms to SAHC to support their mission of conserving unique plant and animal habitats, and protecting clean water, farmland, scenic beauty, and recreational areas in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. SAHC Staff will be onsite at Catawba’s Asheville South Slope location on the release day (5-10pm) to answer questions and sell merchandise. A guided hike to Upper Catawba Falls is scheduled for Saturday, September 30.

Biere de Miel is Passport Beer #39 in Catawba’s 2017 Small Batch rewards program. Brewed in their Asheville South Slope brewhouse, the beer is available in Catawba’s four tasting rooms, and in limited distribution. Passport holders who have earned 39 stamps may collect their “3rd Layover” prizes in Asheville and Morganton tasting rooms, and are also eligible to enter the drawing for the quarterly grand prize.
