Our favorite time of year is upon us! Fresh Hop season starts NOW!
ABOUT THE BEER: Fresh Hop Pioneer Extra Special Bitter conditioned on Fresh Mt. Hood hops from Crosby Hop Farm—a fifth generation hop farm located in Woodburn, OR. This beer scored us a GOLD medal at the 2017 Oregon Beer Awards, so we are super duper stoked for this one!! This is the Third of Three Fresh Hop beers we are doing this year!

ABOUT FRESH HOPS: Every year the Pacific Northwest Hop Harvest happens from early to mid August to the end of September. As the farmers pick them from the bines (yes bines, not vines), they dry them out to about 10-15% moisture and then package them free of oxygen so they will hold up for us brewers to be utilized throughout the next year.
But, seeing as we are 45 minutes away from the farms we source most of our hops from, we get the rare opportunity to drive down as they are picking the hops and snag them before they are dried. We race them back to the brewery and pitch them into the beer on the hotside or condition the beers on the cold side (dryhopping with fresh hops).
The difference is really apparent and can be described as the difference between using freshly picked herbs and spices from your garden when cooking instead of dried herbs and spices you purchased from the grocery store.
And time is of the essence, drink these beers fast and fresh for the full Fresh Hop Experience!!

Releasing NOW: Early Bird Fresh Hop Pale Ale conditioned on loads of freshly picked Centennial hops from our good pals @crosbyhops!! The sooner you get here and drink it all, the fresher it'll be!
