Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Lakewood Brewing French Quarter Temptress

imageI’ve really been enjoying the opportunity to taste each of the latest Lakewood Brewing “Temptress” beers (thank you Lakewood!)  We brought you Raspberry Temptress and Mole Temptress, so I’m excited to give you an early peek at another….French Quarter Temptress.

Returning to the Seduction Series, French Quarter Temptress is once again an imperial stout brewed with lactose sugar and vanilla, but this version adds in Bourbon barrel-aged coffee beans and chicory.  This New Orleans-inspired brew uses freshly roasted, Bourbon barrel-aged Peruvian Cajamaraca coffee beans as well as chicory, and the combination is really unique.

Once again this beer pours a rich deep brown/black color and your nose will notice coffee, followed by coffee with some late coffee in the aroma.  This is of course a good thing, especially if you love coffee.  The flavors lead with the same complex layered coffee flavors followed by some brown sugar, marshmallow and dark chocolate.  We really enjoyed the roasty and sweet balance and the great play between the coffee and chocolate flavors.  In the end we were calling it a coffee s’more beer, and believe me that’s a compliment.  The beer finishes warm and boozy with a pleasant coffee dryness to balance out the sweet lactose flavors.  All in all this is another tasty and unique temptress that you need to try out.

Dallas, TX: Lakewood Brewing Company continues their Seduction Series’ release schedule with French Quarter Temptress, now available in 4-pack bottles.

Capturing the spirit and attitude of New Orleans, French Quarter Temptress possesses the boldness of barrel-aged coffee and chicory within the incredibly smooth 9.1 percent ABV Imperial Milk Stout. The coffee beans are aged in freshly-emptied bourbon barrels for months, imparting those flavors from the barrel right into the beans.

“A lot of people mistakenly think this is a barrel-aged beer because they hear the word ‘barrel’ and automatically assume the beer came from a barrel,” said Wim Bens, President & Founder of Lakewood Brewing Company. “We always like seeing people’s reactions when we tell them that the beer wasn’t aged in a barrel, but the coffee beans we used in it were. The chicory adds a nice depth of sweet spice to the beer, and gives it that little je ne sais quoi.”

LBC once again partnered with East Dallas favorites Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters for the release. “We both started up around the same time as each other, so it’s been fun seeing us grow together and continue this collaboration of two types of brew,” Bens adds.

Fans can now find French Quarter Temptress 4-packs on store shelves and on area taps in the DFW area, with other Texas markets where LBC is sold in the coming weeks.
