Brooklyn Brewery Worshipful Company Of Brewers Part XVI: Signal:Noise

imageFrom Brooklyn:

The Worshipful Company of Brewers is once again upon us. The charter of this sanctified league dictates that each member of the Brooklyn Brewery brewing team will design and create a batch of his or her own draft-only beer, to be served exclusively at the Brewery Tasting Room until the last drop has been squeezed from the taps.

Beer #16: Signal:Noise
Pronounced “signal to noise”
Style: Really fun non-traditional pilsner
ABV: 5.5%
Notes: Fruity with an underpinning of earthy spice and a long, clean finish. Comfortable anywhere from fancy dinners to post-shift pints.
Availability: Friday, February 17 until it’s all gone.

Brewer #16: Scott Simpson
Age: 27
Started at Brooklyn Brewery: May 2014
Favorite Drinking Spot: Spuyten Duyvil
Professional Reference: “He plays a bitchin’ Japanese Les Paul knockoff.”– Drew Bombard, Lab Manager & Microbiologist
Brewer’s Notes: Scott brewed Signal:Noise as a look at the balance of a brewer’s goals. The vocabulary-heavy geekery behind a well made beer can be justified and rewarding, but the true drive for the best brewers is to create something that can be shared and enjoyed with friends. Signal:Noise refers to the practice in audio or video mixing of minimizing interference, or noise, to isolate and express the real message, or signal. This ratio is held high in Scott’s creation: a nuanced lager worthy of examination, but perfectly suited to sharing a handful of pints with friends and loved ones. We look forward to many rounds of just that practice.
