Braxton’s four core-styles are available all year on draft and include Storm Golden Cream Ale, Crank Shaft IPA, Twisted Bit Dortmunder Lager and Dead Blow Tropical Stout. Fans have been begging Braxton Brewing to can Dead Blow since it was introduced in 2015.

At last, the tropical stout, which is brewed with 80 lbs. of macerated dates, will be available in cans through the end of the winter months before returning again next fall. The Tropical Stout checks in at 7.2% ABV and 27 IBUs.

“As we head into the New Year, we are excited to be expanding our packaged product offerings,” said Jake Rouse, Co-Founder and CEO. “Dead Blow has always been a fan favorite, and as we head into the last months of winter we’re thrilled to make this stout portable.”

Dead Blow will be available at select retailers and liquor stores across the brewing company’s distribution network in Northern Kentucky, Cincinnati, Dayton, Lexington and Louisville. This is the second of four new packaged products that Braxton Brewing Co. will be releasing in early 2017.

It joins Storm Golden Cream Ale and Crank Shaft IPA as the other two core styles available in cans. Spotlight White IPA is the brewery’s current seasonal can available now throughout its distribution footprint.

Braxton Brewing Co. was born out of a garage on Braxton Drive in Union, Ky. It’s here, where COO Evan Rouse, learned to brew. One of his favorite recipes was a version of the foreign export stout brewed with dates. When Braxton officially launched in March of 2015, he knew it was a recipe that would round out Braxton’s year round offerings. After final recipe development, the brewery introduced the beer shortly after opening. Since, it has been one of the brewery’s most popular and its highest rated core-style beer on Untappd. At last, it will be available in cans.

“It has been one of the most requested beers to can since we launched Storm in cans,” said Evan Rouse, Co-Founder and COO. “This is one of our most unique offerings and I cannot explain how excited we are to finally move forward with this as a packaged offering.”

The can’s description reads, “In the Midwest, there are certain things you can count on. Eighty pounds of macerated dates made its way into Dead Blow. They are partnered with a Dry English Ale yeast to provide a vibrant tropical aroma with a slight amount of fruity esters. This beer is a dry, roasty, fruity, full bodied, smooth stout, that is lighter on bitterness. We call this deep tropical stout Dead Blow, to remind ourselves that hardness and goodness sometimes go together.”

Braxton Brewing Company will release cans in their taproom on Saturday, January 28th. Cans will be delivered to retail outlets earlier that week.
