ABOUT THE BEER // 9% ABV
In what’s become a holiday tradition for Upslope Brewing Company, we present you the neatly wrapped gift of oak, brettanomyces funk and fruit. Aged for 11 months in Leopold Bros. Maryland Style Rye Whiskey barrels and re-fermented with 500 lbs of cranberries, this sour ale is both naughty and nice. Candied orange, rye whiskey spice and a touch of oak open up to an assertive cranberry tartness and a light semi-sweet chocolate finish.
LEE HILL SERIES //
Named after our original North Boulder brewery, the Lee Hill Series is our tribute and continued commitment to experimenting and crafting small batches of beer for YOU, our awesome, craft beer-loving fans. This quarterly, limited release series celebrates experimentation and creativity. Served up in 19.2 ounce cans, the Series offers new and innovative styles that are sure to be cellar keepsakes!
In addition to their Limited Release Christmas Ale, Upslope Brewing Company has released two seasonal beers just in time for the holidays. This winter, fans can enjoy the brewery’s Limited Release Oatmeal Stout as well as the very limited, barrel-aged Lee Hill Series Volume 10: Wild Christmas Ale with Cranberries—which is a variation of Upslope’s popular Christmas Ale.
“These two brews, along with the Christmas Ale, create a flavorful trifecta for the holiday season with a wide range of tastes,” says Upslope’s founder Matt Cutter. “Just like the holidays, these styles come and go quickly making them easy to celebrate while they’re available.”
Varying each year, the Lee Hill Series’ Wild Christmas Ale is an annual small-batch holiday installment that stands alongside the festive and popular holiday Limited Release Christmas Ale. Volume 10 of the Lee Hill Series Wild Christmas Ale is similar to Volume 6 (released last year), though this holiday recipe has been tweaked, with added cranberries and a slightly longer aging process. This 9% ABV sour ale is both naughty and nice, having been aged for 11 months in Leopold Bros Maryland Style Rye Whiskey barrels and re-fermented with 500 pounds of cranberries. Candied orange, rye whiskey spice and a touch of oak open up to an assertive cranberry tartness and a light, semi-sweet chocolate finish. As with all of the Lee Hill Series beers, the Wild Christmas Ale with Cranberries has an extremely limited availability.
The winter Limited Release Oatmeal Stout, will also re-emerge to the market place this week and will be available throughout the winter season. This beer will be distributed throughout CO, WY, MT, AZ, NM, and TX and is available in Upslope’s Mix Box or six packs of 12 ounce cans. The 5% ABV Oatmeal Stout, brewed with oats, roasted malts and East Kent Golding hops, delivers notes of cocoa, dried fruit and caramel in a smooth, full-bodied, but sessionable beer.
The Lee Hill Series Volume 10 Wild Christmas Ale with Cranberries and Limited Release Oatmeal Stout will be present at theUpslope Lee Hill Series Release and Ugly Sweater Party on Thursday, December 8, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Lee Hill tap room (1501 Lee Hill Rd, Boulder, CO).
