From DC Brau:
For the 4th winter in a row, we're warming you up with our seasonal Alpha Domina Mellis. This year's DIPA, which includes local wildflower honey from Burnside Farms in Haymarket, VA, and locally-grown Virginia barley that was malted by Pilot Malthouse in southern VA, features new and exciting hop varieties from Oregon and New Zealand.
ADM Part 4 visually grabs the consumer's attention with an attractive tight, lacey, white head and a visually appealing orange-ish hue which is realized by the addition of crystal malts to the malt bill. A generous 90 minute addition of hops lay the foundation for the punchy, lingering mellon-like bitterness that playfully tingles the pallet after every sip which only helps to perpetuate the intense hop flavor and presence. Honey helps to boost alcohol content and also adds a crisp, dry finish to the beer. Which, like the malt, is only there to support and not over power the heavy, hoppy juiciness of this precious hop elixir.
The beer will be available on draft only in the tasting room and around the District this month, starting this Saturday during growler hours.
As you might have heard before the holiday, we are adding on to the brewery this winter with a new brewhouse that will allow us to increase our production in the coming years by more than 300%! This means more of our award-winning flagship brews and one-off seasonals in your glass come late spring 2017. Things are moving along as planned - two new silos arrived yesterday - and the brewhouse should arrive later this month. Follow along with our progress on our social media channels.
