Mybeerbuzz.com Highlights Highland Brewing Pilsner

Back in early March, I brought you a peek at the packaging for this beer…and even then I knew Highland Brewing had a winner on their hands.  This is Highland Pilsner and it is the second new year-round beer being added in 2016 by Highland Brewing.

Highland Pilsner was developed by head brewer Hollie Stephenson and her team, and this beer will feature German Hallertau Blanc hops as well as three other Hallertau-region varieties:  Saphir, Perle & Hersbrucker (all added during different times in the brewing process).  Highland Pilsner also uses 100% German pilsner malt, so I knew we were in for a summer-treat when we sampled it.

Highland Pilsner pours a light golden-straw color and the aroma was a pleasant floral and grassy mix for me.  The flavor follows with slight malty sweetness balanced well by the pineapple, peppery and grassy flavors from the hops.  Highland PIlsner finishes clean and crisp with a slight dryness on the palate.  The balance is really nice in this beer and it has “classic pilsner” written all over it….and even though this is a great summer beer, I can see it being really enjoyable year-round.

Highland Pilsner is available now in 12oz bottles and on draft (5,5%-AbV, 35 IBU), and if that’s not fun enough, Highland will be releasing 12oz cans in mid-May (below).  I think this is the perfect summer packaging for this beer and I can’t wait to see the cans hit shelves.

This beer is currently ranked # 5 on Untappd (in the world!) for German-style pilsners….so be sure to get out there and try Highland Pilsner for yourself and when you do, be sure ot let us know what YOU think.
