Alamo Beer Company Releasing Maibock In May

San Antonio, TX – When Alamo Beer Company opened to the public in March of 2015, the brewery added three new beers to its portfolio including its first seasonal, Alamo Maibock.  Initially, Alamo Maibock was served only on draft at the brewery, until now.  During the first week of May, Alamo will be releasing Maibock throughout Texas in both bottles and draft. The beer is expected to be available in bars, restaurants and retailers.  A cross between a traditional bock and a Munich Helles also known as a Festbier, Maibocks are brewed as a means of transition between the winter and summer seasons. As the name Mai suggests, the best time to drink this German-style brew is in the month of May.

“This is one of my favorite beers to make,” states Brewmaster James Hudec. “It takes such care and time. You brew it in the winter when the snow is still on the, um, cactus…then you let it sleep for a few months in a cold lager room until it reaches amber perfection,” Hudec concludes. In comparison, Texas winters are significantly milder than those of Bavaria; however the profile of the beer is true to its origins.

Made with Pilsner and Munich malts plus Herzrbucker hops, drinkers should expect a strong Bavarian-style spring lager with a sweet toffee and caramel character. With a refreshingly crisp full bodied flavor at 6.2% ABV and 22 IBU, Alamo Maibock evokes the warmth of springtime in South Texas.

Zac Harris, Director of Sales at Alamo Beer Company, anticipates a good response with customers in the Texas Market. “We look forward to sharing our spring beer here in San Antonio and with the Houston, Austin and North Texas areas,” states Harris. “Maibocks are a fairly new style to our Texas market and the smooth, refreshing flavor profile makes it enjoyable,” concluded Harris.  Product release events are scheduled throughout the state and will start with “Cinco De Maibock” parties all over San Antonio. Alamo Beer Company brews beer at its facility in the heart of San Antonio, just a half-a-mile away from its namesake – the Alamo. Along with Maibock, the company produces Alamo Golden Ale, Pilsner, Amber Lager- a German style Pale Ale which is available year round. Maibock is the only third seasonal to be released and will be joining Alamo’s Holiday IPA and Fiestaval- a Belgian white ale. The company will soon be announcing the release of other seasonals including a Kölsch, Oktoberfest plus others.
