Karl Strauss Releasing Aurora Hoppyalis San Diego-Style IPA

From Karl Strauss:

Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you: Aurora Hoppyalis IPA. Boy oh boy, are we excited to share this beer with you.

Aurora Hoppyalis is the perfect example of a San Diego-style IPA, which means it has a dialed-down malt profile and showcases hops front and center. There is a lot less focus on hop bitterness and instead, our brewers really bring out hoparomatics and flavors.

Aurora Hoppyalis IPA has already started making waves - it won a Bronze Medal at this year's Great American Beer Festival, and was voted "Best Tasting IPA" at the California Craft Throwdown during San Francisco Beer Week last week! Now, it's your turn. We can't wait to tell you all the ways you can enjoy Aurora Hoppyalis IPA. Here's the scoop:

  • Available NOW = on draft (year-round!) at our Tasting Room, every Karl Strauss brewpub, and at craft beer bars all throughout the golden state.
  • Coming Soon = the bad boys you see in the photo: 22oz Bombers and 6-packs are heading your way. Look for bottles to start hitting shelves later this month!

About the Beer (and the name!)

Okay fine, we admit it, you can’t see the Northern Lights this far south. But San Diego has its own version of Aurora Borealis, and ours has cast a hoppy spell over this city. What the rest of the world calls an IPA, San Diego locals consider pale in comparison. Aurora Hoppyalis is our San Diego-style IPA brewed with Simcoe, Mosaic, Amarillo, and Citra hops. Robust flavors and aromas of tropical fruit, pine, and tangerine linger through a dry, crisp finish. Tonight’s forecast: clear hoppy skies.
