Summit Team Brew Series Kicks Off with Spiced Winter Weizen In Jan

From Summit:

The first beer in our Summit Team Brew Series is one that’s just perfect for mid-winter, a strong wheat beer with a citrus bite and peppery spice! When they first got together to brainstorm their beer the January 2016 Team Brew group decided to brew something light in color, but big on flavor; something unlike anything in Summit’s year-round portfolio or seasonal offerings. The team’s Spice Winter Weizen is the result! When asked to sum up the 7.3% ABV wheat ale in one sentence, brew leader Christian Dixon describes it as "a juicy, full-bodied hefeweizen with notes of fruit and spice.”

When team members gathered this week for pre-release tasting notes, the group called out aromas of bubblegum, banana and black pepper; flavors of pepper and cloves spice, melon, apricot, orange/citrus; a creamy mouthfeel from wheat and yeast; and just a touch of boozy heat that accentuates the pepper and clove characteristics of the yeast strain – Weihenstephan’s world-renowned hefeweizen yeast.

With medium-full body and high carbonation, this beer will warm your beer-loving soul on a Minnesota winter night.Spiced Winter Weizen will be on tap for a limited time at the Summit Beer Hall in Saint Paul, MN. To see if it’s still on tap, see the draught list on our main Beer Hall Page.

The Summit Team Brew Series is an in-house collaborative brewing project that includes a different team of coworkers brewing a one-off beer each month during our thirtieth anniversary in 2016. Each month a group’s unique brew will be featured on tap in the Summit Beer Hall.
