Crooked Stave Announces Nov Bottle Releases

Denver, Colo. – October 30, 2015 – Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project will host two months of bottle releases starting with an overdue release party for L’Brett d’Cherry on Wednesday, November 4th. The following week, Crooked Stave will release Motif on Wednesday, November 11th and additionally another release slated for November 18th. All bottle releases will take place at the Crooked Stave taproom (3350 Brighton Blvd) at 5:00 p.m. MST.



“After a solid summer of releases we’ve got some of our most exciting beers of the year still to announce,” said Chad Yakobson, Crooked Stave Owner and Brewmaster. “Colorado had a great growing year for fruit with a bumper crop on the Western Slope. We are fortunate enough to work with some amazing growers and finally after the past 4 and a half years, really able to show what we are all about. With enough sour beer aging in barrels and a bounty of Foeders we are able to expand production and release into the market fruit sours we are really proud of.”



L’Brett d’Cherry was originally released in small quantities during GABF week, now for the first time the brewery will have a proper release party for their first fruited sour release of the year. L’Brett d’Cherry is a blend of Golden Sour beer from various barrels, which was additionally aged with 4,000lbs of fruit in the breweries large oak foeders. L’Brett d’Cherry (6.0% ABV) pours with a deep red hue and rose-colored head from the mass amount of cherries added in secondary fermentation.



In addition, Crooked Stave will release Motif on Wednesday, November 11th. This marks the first release in 2015 of Motif, one of the breweries many specialty releases. Motif is a take on a Belgian Dark Strong (9.0% ABV) fermented with the breweries mixed culture of wild yeast and bacteria in large oak Foeders. Brewed in anticipation of colder weather, each batch features strong malt derived characteristics, which mingle with the earthy tart cherry notes derived from the fermentation with wild yeast in oak. Additional batches of Motif Reserva, aged in various spirit barrels are still planned for this year.



On November 18th Crooked Stave will have a release party for Mama Bear’s Sour Cherry Pie, which was also was released during GABF week before selling out quickly.



Mama Bear’s Sour Cherry Pie features over 3,000lbs of Colorado sour cherries harvested by the brewery on the Colorado Western Slope. “This year we had a nice mix of brewers harvesting cherries early in the morning so we could take the fresh fruit back to the brewery and add it to the beer all in the same day,” explains Danny Oberle, Head Brewer at Crooked Stave.
