From Kona:
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii (July 29, 2015) – Kona Brewing Company continues its year-long celebration of giving back with the August release of Kai Golden Ale, a refreshing and golden-hued craft brew that benefits the Surfrider Foundation, Maui Chapter, a non-profit that works to protect and preserve the world's oceans, waves and beaches.
Kai Golden Ale is the third small batch beer in the Makana Series, Kona Brewing’s campaign to say mahalo to the people of Hawaii for their support over the last 21 years. A portion of the proceeds from each limited edition beer in the series – which was inspired by Hawaii’s natural elements – goes to one of four Hawaii-based non-profit organizations that dedicate themselves to restoring and preserving Hawaii’s natural resources.
Hawaii’s life giving waters were the inspiration for Kai Golden Ale (4% ABV). In fact, the water used to make the special brew comes from 3,000 feet below the Kona coast off the Big Island. The desalinated seawater is full of minerals that give the ale a light, crisp finish – making it deeply refreshing and the perfect end to a day spent riding the waves.
