Natty Greene’s Closing Raleigh Brewhouse 8/1

Greensboro, NC – June 24th – In 2010 Natty Greene’s Brewing Co. opened it’s

Raleigh Brewhouse as an extension of its Brewery and Greensboro Brewhouse. After

5 years, Natty Greene’s has made the difficult decision to close its Raleigh location.

August 1st of this year will be the last open day for the brewpub. A recent change of

building ownership has resulted in Natty Greene’s replacement in the building by a

new restaurant group.

Natty Greene’s had made plans with the previous landlord, with whom they had a

strong partnership, to extend the lease. However, the new owner of the building

could not guarantee that they would not allow other companies the option to take

over the lease at a higher rental rate. Unbeknownst to Natty Greene’s, the new

landlord already had a new group lined up to take over their lease if they were

unable to commit to the raised rate.

At the beginning of June, Natty Greene’s was informed that the lease for their

Raleigh Brewhouse would not be extended and they were given a three month

notice to vacate the premises for the new restaurant group to take over. The bounds

needed to continue the partnership with the new landlord were larger than Natty

Greene’s was able to bear or afford.

Co-founder, Kayne Fisher remarked, “We had planned to be a part of the downtown

Raleigh community for years to come. Raleigh has become a second home to Natty

Greene’s where the community support will make closing down the brewhouse an

even harder transition. We hope the community and loyal Natty Greene’s followers

will continue to support our brand and beers despite these unfortunate

happenings.”

August 1st will be Natty Greene’s last full day of business. As a last hurrah, Natty

Greene’s will hold an all-day farewell party on August 1st at the Raleigh Brewhouse

from 11:00 AM to 2:00AM. Proceeds from the event will benefit Natty Greene’s

Raleigh staff to help them support themselves after the brewhouse closes.
