On May 12, 2015 La Cumbre Brewing Company and Odell Brewing Company teamed up to make a special collaboration beer for the upcoming Albuquerque Beer Week. The brew, dubbed Paradisal Pale Ale, is a limited draft-only release featuring rare hops.

“La Cumbre and Odell are both well known for hop forward beers with excellent balance. Having both won a gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival® in the American IPA category (different years), it only seemed fitting to connect and brew together,” said Brent Cordle, Odell Brewing’s pilot brew manager. “It was fun to join our brewing styles and brew something as one.”

Paradisal Pale Ale is brewed with Southern Passion and Southern Aroma hops from South Africa and Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand. It boasts 100% Vienna malt grain which provides a little more body to the finished beer while also creating an appealing orange hue. The brewers finished the beer in the hop back with nearly 2 pounds per barrel of Chinook and Simcoe whole leaf hops giving it a peachy, stone fruit aroma and a subtle spicy flavor.

“It was a great honor to be able to brew with one of the early pioneers of craft brewing,” said La Cumbre President Jeff Erway. “I have been drinking Doug Odell’s beer since I turned 21 and have always loved the hop profile they get from their hop back so I was really excited to incorporate that into this pale ale.”

Paradisal Pale Ale will be on tap at Odell Brewing’s tap room and at select events for Albuquerque Beer Week, including the Battle of Fort Albuquerque at Sinners and Saints on Friday, May 29th and at Sister on Saturday, May 30th.
