Heavy Seas - Double Cannon, Smooth Sail & Desert Island Series # 2 Schwarzbier

Heavy Seas Beer is pleased to announce the release of another new seasonal
beer in 2015,
Double Cannon. This seasonal release will be available from April – June in all 18
states where Heavy Seas beer is distributed.

Hop aromas blast out of this flavor explosion. Massively dry-
hopped, but with a balanced malt sweetness, this irresistible force
showcases the power of bringing in the extra artillery. Hop
cubed…then squared, Double Cannon is hopped to the sixth!
We’ve kept the same malt recipe proportions as Loose Cannon
and employed the late addition-, whirlpool-, hopback-, and dry-
hopping processes that make Loose Cannon such a flavorful IPA.
We’ve captured the beautiful balance of Loose Cannon, but
doubled the firepower.

According to Brewmaster, Chris Leonard, “Double Cannon
needs little explanation. I shall oblige, however.  Loose Cannon is
easily our most identifiable product and our best seller, but IPA fans want more. We've
already achieved multiple-pint hop heaven with our Session IPA, Crossbones. Now
we're hitting you with the second half of our one-two punch by bringing in the big guns
with Double Cannon. This beer will satisfy the most discriminating of hopheads. The
malt recipe/profile is identical in balance to Loose Cannon, albeit with a starting gravity
of 22.0 Plato (Loose Cannon is 16.5)! We're talking about 9.5% alcohol. Loose Cannon
is 45 IBU's and Double Cannon will be 90! We are targeting an April 1 release, and it
should be an incredible addition to our lineup.”

ABV: 9.5%
IBU’s: 90
Availability: April - June

Heavy Seas Beer is pleased to announce the release of another new seasonal
beer in 2015, Smooth Sail. This seasonal release will be available only in cans and on
draft from April –September in all 18 states where Heavy Seas beer is distributed.
This is not your average summer ale. We’ve created the
most refreshingly delicious American wheat ale. Brewed
with lemon and orange peel, Smooth Sail finishes with a
citrus kick at 4.5% ABV. Available on draft and cans
only, it’s the perfect beer for trips to the park, hiking, or
just sitting on the beach with your friends. It will help take
you to your happy place!

According to Brewmaster, Chris Leonard, “Smooth Sail
Summer Ale is a beer that has been in development for quite some time. The goal was
to produce a light, refreshing, flavorful beer that appeals to active folks and will become
an integral part of warm weather fun. The beer is more than 20% malted wheat, giving it
an airy mouthfeel and a frothy head. We've employed a neutral strain of "wheat" yeast
to produce a clean tasting beer that is delicate on the palate. American hops are
introduced late in the boil to impart a crisp flavor dimension. Finally, dried orange and
lemon peel went into in our hopback to provide a fruity, citrus aroma - without adding
sweetness. This beer will be a canned-only product for off-premise purchase. There will
be draft available, but we will not be bottling it. It should be a fantastic package to take
with you to barbecues, beaches, boating and anywhere else sun and fun require a
delicious malt beverage accompaniment.”

Style:  American Wheat with Citrus
ABV: 4.5%
IBU’s: 18
Availability: April - September
Malts: 2-Row, Wheat Malt, Carapils
Hops: Warrior, Hallertau, Cascade
Additions: Lemon and Orange Peel

BALTIMORE, MD --- Heavy Seas Beer is pleased to introduce the second beer in its
draft-only program, the Desert Island Series. This program features “one-off”
releases of beers designed by individual members of the Heavy Seas brewing team.
Each beer in the series will be limited to only 100 barrels available at select locations
within Heavy Seas’ 18 state distribution footprint. This limited release, a Schwarzbier at
5.2% ABV, will be available in April.

Brewing Team Leader Chris Schultz, Brewmaster Chris Leonard, and Beer
Awesomeness Controller Dave Sauer brewed the second offering. According to
Leonard, “Our second Desert Island Series beer is a style chosen by the entire staff at
Heavy Seas. Largely misunderstood, it is a style of beer that is a mystery wrapped in an
enigma – much like many of our insane pirates. Dark yet smooth, daunting yet
approachable, satisfying yet refreshing, it is truly a beer for all seasons. Does it fully
represent the personality of our soul-searching charges? Perhaps not. However, it will
definitely sate their nearly unquenchable thirst for deliciousness.”

Style: Schwarzbier
ABV: 5.2%
IBU’s: 22
Availability: April
Malts: Pale, Munich, Caramunich, Carafa,
Crystal Hops: German Perle, Hallertau
Mittlefrue
