Damn, are we ever excited to be making this announcement! Starting May 1st, we will begin distributing in a big way in San Francisco & San Mateo County. This has been many months in the making, and we’re thrilled to say that IT IS FINALLY HAPPENNING FOR REALZ.
Many, many people have asked, begged, pleaded, cajoled, & demanded that we send our beer to San Francisco. So we listened, and began working through the many steps necessary to make it happen, which included expanding capacity & selecting a distribution partner.
After months of the traditional flirting & mating rituals that precede the selection of a beer distributor, we have consummated our relationship with the legendary Matagrano Distributing. Matagrano is a world class distributor that has done a kickass job for other craft breweries, and we’re stoked to be working with them.
But for you SF/San Mateo County folks: you don’t want to wait until May to drink our beer, do you? Of course not. Which is why we’re going to give you a taste of what we can do by participating in some rad San Francisco Beer Week events. Here’s the rundown:
We love San Francisco for so many reasons: its deeply cool beer community, its legion of world class bars & restaurants, its amazing coffee scene, its incredibly beautiful & vibrant streets, its badass public transportation, its perpetual hoodie weather, its relentless inventiveness, its many apps, and on and on and on. So naturally we think our beer will be a perfect match for one of the world’s great cities.
To answer the inevitable question: yes, we are working on distribution to the East Bay & other parts of Northern California. We’re going to have to see how things go in San Francisco before we commit to a timeline though; our capacity to make beer is finite.
IN OTHER NEWS, we've got this saucy puppy currently in the tanks:
Protocosmos is a 7% ABV IPA loaded with Galaxy hops from Australia. Hop quality can be something of a crap shoot--one year they smell like unicorn tears, the next like dragon's breath--but this lot of Galaxy contains some of the best smelling hops we've ever encountered. Pineapple, mango, & citrus dominate, combining many of the best qualities we love in new wave Yakima hops. For those of you who enjoyed Booming Rollers & City of the Sun, Protocosmos will be be your jam. Expect to see it on shelves & select taps around SoCal & Maui in early March (along with Booming Rollers 4-packs, of course!)
EVENTS!
THURSDAY: Beer Dinner at King's Row in Pasadena. Six beers, six course prix fixe pairing dinner. The best their chefs can cook up alongside the best we can brew.7pm, tickets are $45 and seating is limited! Email Jim@kingsrowpub.com for more information
FRIDAY: Common Theory Food Pairing Fiesta in Kearny Mesa--7 beers on-tap, plus a keg of nitro cold press coffee made with bourbon barrel-aged beans. Universal Friend paired w/ Prawn Toast: scallion ginger vinaigrette, arugula salad. Blazing World paired w/ dozen fresh oysters: blazing watercress mignonette. City of the Dead paired w/ Turducken Roulade: mascarpone creamy polenta, coffee marmalade.
