JUNEAU, Alaska (February 2, 2015) – Alaskan Brewing Company continues its long-standing partnership with Alaska Airlines in 2015 by introducing a new variety of beer styles for customer eager to explore new horizons in taste. Alaskan Freeride APA, and Icy Bay IPA will be added to the schedule of Alaskan beers available on flights throughout Alaska Airlines’ routes.

“Our Alaskan Amber Ale has been served on Alaska Airlines flights for almost ten years now,” said Marcy Larson, Co-Founder of Alaskan Brewing. “It has been such a great way to introduce our beer to folks who have never had a chance to try it. Last year we added our Alaskan Summer Ale during the summer months, and we got terrific reaction to the variety.”

Larson said that the new beers will allow lovers of craft beer to explore two of the brewery’s hoppier beers. As craft beer has grown in the past few years, some of the most popular styles have emerged as India Pale Ales, or IPAs, and American Pale Ales, or APAs.

“Our Amber and Summer Ales are very smooth and easy-drinking brews,” Larson said. “But our Freeride APA and Icy Bay IPA have a bit more of a bite, and have a bright hop character that a lot of our fans are loving. The Freeride especially is an exciting beer to introduce folks to the world of hops flavor that is sweeping the craft beer world, without an overly bitter taste.”

Freeride APA will be available in cans onboard starting in February, along with Amber Ale in bottles. In April, Freeride will be replaced with Icy Bay IPA in bottles. Summer Ale and Freeride will return in June and Summer will stay on until September, when Amber comes back on board.

Larson says she hopes that these new flavors will be as well-received as Amber has for the past 10 years. “I can’t tell you how many times we hear that someone has tried our beer for the first time on an Alaska Airlines flight. It just seems to enhance their travel experience, as we truly are bringing them a part of Alaska in our bottles and cans. So now, folks that love Pale Ales and IPAs can have that taste of Alaska onboard as well.”
