Half Acre - Sticky Fat Returns 10/3

From Half Acre:

Once a year, cones grow plump, the yard boss readies his men, and brewers across the country await their delivery of whole cone, wet hops. At the same time, the farmers that make our sticky dreams possible, sharpen their stakes against the historic foe - a bear we've come to know as Sticky Fat

Twice the height of your average prom queen, and spanning the width of an ice shanty, this bear destroys fields and breaks spirits.

When asked about the bear's toll on this year's harvest, a small field hand whispered, "Oh this year we was smart. We smeared honey all along the perimeter of the field - that bear hates honey - yes he does. But the farm down the road? I heard he got in and ate their entire east field. They saw him at 3am, wobbling fat, his mouth leaving a trail of yellowed drool, with a strangled lamb under one arm. That bear don't even eat lamb.."

-

- We brew a beer in honor of this giant, to keep his story fresh. This year we brewed with 300 pounds of Chinook hops, soaking wet and straight from our northern friends in Michigan. Sticky Fat American Dark Ale is brown as the bear's hind quarters, and laced with piney, resinous hop character, backed up by plunging levels of chocolate and roast. Swing by and tip one back, a toast to all the things that keep us on our toes.
