From Starr Hill:
“Starr Hill has had a tremendous amount of success with our line of All Access beers this year. Our entire brewery team gets very excited about this limited release series that will give craft beer fans something to sing about,” said Mark Thompson, Starr Hill’s Founder and Master Brewer. “King of Hop is a full-flavored beer that has a big citrus hop aroma. The name and label for King of Hop reflect the culture of our brand and our connection to music, while also expanding upon our growing lineup of pale ales.”
King of Hop Imperial India Pale Ale is brewed with heaps of American hops from the Pacific Northwest, including Citra, Simcoe, Amarillo and Falconer’s Flight. The beer is generously dry-hopped to achieve an invigoratingly fresh aroma, which highlights the powerful citrus characteristics of the hops. Flavor notes of orange peel, passion fruit, grapefruit, and gooseberry lend balance to the bracingly herbal bite and dry finish.
“We didn’t stop ‘til we got enough… hops, that is. But it isn’t all about amplitude; it is about the quality, complexity and balance. This is not going to be the big bitter bomb, like many Double IPAs. Our hop cannon allows us to get the most out of dry-hopping, which gives us that incredible hop aroma and flavor,” said Robbie O’Cain, Starr Hill’s Manager of Brewery Operations.
King of Hop Imperial India Pale Ale is currently on tap in the newly renovated Starr Hill Tasting Room and will available on draft and in 22 oz. bottles for a limited time beginning July 1 as part of Starr Hill’s All Access series. It is replacing Whiter Shade of Pale White IPA, which recently won the Gold Medal at the 2014 World Beer Cup in the American-Belgo-Style Ale category.
