Sothern Tier Releases Goat Boy

We brought you news of this beer back in Feb, and now this from Southern Tier:

Another seasonal release from Southern Tier  Brewing Company is hitting store shelves this spring. Goat Boy Imperial Weizenbock, inspired by brewing history, is the first weizenbock produced by Southern Tier Brewing. Brewed with five types of malt and two types of hops, Goat Boy is 7.5% alc/vol. Smooth and rich with a slightly sweet banana aroma, this beer pairs well with aged cheeses, roasted meats, and shortbread cookies.

True to the style, Goat Boy is malty and lightly hopped, reminiscent of beers first brewed in 14th century Einbeck, Germany. Funny thing about this town’s name – when the style was adopted by brewers in Munich, their accents pronounced “Einbeck” as “ein Bock,” which is German for “Billy Goat.” To this day, many visual puns using goats have adorned labels of Bock beers.

We enlisted the creative talents of Nate Duval (
www.nateduval.com) to illustrate “Goat Boy.” Our in-house designer filled in the rest of the graphics. And thus, the tradition of goat iconography on bottle labels continues.

Southern Tier Brewing Company of Lakewood, NY has been in operation since 2002. The company brings in the new year with increased brewing capacity, a newly built logistics warehouse, and several state of the art brewery upgrades.
