Narragansett is joining in on the popularity of Shandys with their new Del’s Shandy.  This beer is a blend of Narragansett Lager and Great-Grandfather DeLucia’s 1840 Lemonade recipe, it will be package din 16oz cans and come in at 5% ABV.

UPDATE 12 May 2013 from Narragansett:

‘Gansett announces the much-anticipated release of its limited-edition Narragansett Del’s Shandy, the second collaboration in Narragansett’s “Hi Neighbor Mash Up” series, pairing the iconic New England brewer and a beloved Rhode Island summertime staple. The thirst-quenching shandy mixes ‘Gansett’s award-winning Lager and Del’s tart lemon concentrate, creating a refreshing brew for the warm summer months.

Longtime favorites of the Ocean State — Narragansett operating since 1890 and Del’s since 1948 — the two collaborators have refreshed scores of satisfied customers on and around the beaches of New England for decades.

“When it came to our second ‘Hi Neighbor Mash Up’ collaboration, nothing reminded us of childhood summers on Rhode Island beaches more than Del’s,” says Mark Hellendrung, president of Narragansett Beer. “Given the sessionable style of our Lager, and the growing popularity of shandys, we knew a collaboration with Del’s would create a quintessential summer brew that generations of New Englanders would be thrilled about. The response has been amazing, people have been asking for its release almost daily since first hearing about the beer in February.”

Brewed under the supervision of award-winning Brewmaster Sean Larkin, Narragansett Del’s Shandy provides an effervescent, citrus blast backed by just enough sweet malt to keep it from becoming uncomfortably sour. Narragansett Del’s Shandy, priced at $8.99 SRP, will be available the week of May 12 in six packs of 16-ounce tallboy cans throughout Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York. The beer is 5.0 percent Alcohol By Volume.
