Midnight Brewery Breaks Ground On New Expansion

From Midnight Brewery:

ROCKVILLE, VA – Midnight Brewery will celebrate its first, large expansion at an official ground breaking ceremony for its new 5,400 square foot brewery on Friday, March 28, 2014, at 3:00 PM, next door to its current location at 2410 Granite Ridge Road, Rockville, Virginia. “The community response to Midnight has been astounding, and it accelerated our two-year business plan by nine months,” said owner Trae Cairns. “We’ve purchased more equipment, and we’ve negotiated bottling plant and mobile canning deals that will take our beer from our Rockville brewery to Virginia retail shelves over the next six months,” he said.

The expansion is a bold move for Cairns, an IT professional turned brewmaster, who started brewing his beer after work, which influenced the brewery’s name. Midnight was established in September 2011, fully licensed in February 2012, and sold its first beer to the public in April 2012. Midnight has minimally expanded once during its first 18 months of business. The new facility, more than twice the size of its present quarters, will help Midnight meet the demands of its customers who continually ask where they can buy Midnight brews. Cairns credits the passage of Virginia Senate Bill 604, that allows breweries to sell pints onsite, with his decision to accelerate his original business plan. He said, while growler sales are the foundation that supports his business, the expanded opportunity afforded by the bill’s passage gave him the nudge he needed to move ahead with the expansion.

At the Midnight ground breaking ceremony, Cairns expects guests from Goochland County Economic Development, Chamber of Commerce, the beer distributing industry, metro area brewers, and more. For more information contact Trae Carins at 804-356-9379, or email him at trae@midnight-brewery.com.
